I was born in Wiesbaden, Germany and grew up in northern Virginia.  I graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore with a Bachelor in Fine Arts in May 2008, and spent the spring and summer of 2007 in the Media Design department of the Fachhocshule Schwaebisch Hall (FHSH) in Germany focused on 2D animation. I currently work as a Curatorial Assistant for EMP Museum in Seattle by day and continue to exhibit paintings and animations by night.

I am interested in how we come into ourselves by a series of very simple interactions with the world around us, and how these small actions can begin to define our existence. They way we engage with the world is shaped by our basic emotional needs, and so taking a close look at this behavior reveals a lot about who we are and the ways in which we are all unique. My imagery references both old folklore and contemporary children’s media and I twist simple stories into dreamlike reveries. A focus on the small personal transformations that occur in moments of reflection, frustration, and discovery is at the heart of my work, and I am interested in exploring the paths taken to reach a place of peace.
